The Association of Young Journalists and Writers is a non-profit organization with its mission as promoting reading, writing, journalism, and serving the community. Since the association went online, it sought to materialize its mission by helping young writers and journalists get published in the media. The writer submits his or her writing to the website and upon approval will be added to the website. This writing will then be available for newspapers, magazines, publishers and other media to be able to peruse. And then the publications would be able to buy these pieces from their respective authors for publication. And of course our extensive library of articles is available for other writers to read and learn from.
The organization was established as the The Association of Young Journalists under Section 402 of the Not-For-Profit Corporation Law as a successor to the Forum of Young Journalists, which was created in 1981. The association was incorporated by the State of New York in Albany, NY and obtained a license from the Department of Education of the same state. From the very beginning the association was a nationwide organization spanning all 50 states. Soon after its introduction, the association added the term And Writers, to include all people that write because the association believes that writing is an important prerequisite for both understanding journalism and for real world activities. By broadening its reach, the association is now able to accomplish its mission for even more people worldwide. The Association of Young Journalists and Writers is proud to be a multinational organization.
AYJW promotes young journalists' and writers’ rights, helps its members get published without any fees, attract sponsors, who cover the association’s expenses and pay for prizes for best writings, give chances to members to exchange their views and ideas, helps members find jobs in media, etc. Another one of our goals is promoting more minorities to journalism and quality writing and we look forward to our sponsors to establish special scholarships for this purpose. With membership growing quickly the The Association of Young Journalists and Writers look forward to continue to be the organization of writers for writers.
